Stopping by for a Do and a Don't

Haven't updated here in a while, and I don't have a lot of time to do so now, but here's a quick DO and DON'T.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE DON'T!!!!
Jeggings. Gag, puke, ick, yuck, ewwwwwww. I hate hate hate them. Sorry, I'm not changing my opinion. Utterly cringe at the sound of the word and want to gauge my eyes out at the sight.

YES, DO!!

Ballet flats with everything! Give your tootsies a break from heels or dress them up a bit from sneakers. Jeans, dresses, and everything in between. There are so many to choose from and I can't get enough!!

Quick Bit: Summer to Fall

Is it even possible to think of autumn while we sit in this spate of crazy 90+ weather??? But fall fashion is out there...scary but true.

Here's my favorite quick and easy way to transition your favorite summer dress to fall.

Start with your favorite breezy summer dress. I am using this pretty white sundress as my example:

In the summer, to keep things cool, all that is needed is a great (but minimal) pair of strappy gold sandals.

Too hot for any other accessories....just twist hair in a messy updo and go!!

When the weather finally begins to cool down, you don't need to hang the dress in the back of the closet 'til next summer. Simply add a great pair of boots...I love these earthy but feminine Frye boots:

Wrap up in a cute cropped suede jacket...

Or a cozy, chunky belted cardigan...

And you're now ready for hay rides and cider!!

I'm BLUSHING!

OK, in line with my new pastel obsession? ALL THINGS BLUSH! Blush? OK, my idea of blush...blush pinks, beiges, nudes, even taupe-grays. I think this color palette is SO classic and classy! Here are some of my favorites...

Spring Dreams

This winter hit me HARD. I have been yearning for spring something fierce, and with that came a totally new fashion direction for me...pastels.

There was a time around junior high that pastels were HUGE. I remember having peach pants. Yeah. Peach pants. Yikes. I remember lots of other hues I'd pair that with...and the most important "accessory" was my Maybelline eye shadow foursome...frosty green, purple, blue, and pink, all in one neat little tray. And I'd take full advantage of each and every color. HAAAAAAA!!!! Picture that with my frosty pink lipstick and a mouth full of braces. Eek.

Since that time, I have stayed very clear of anything resembling a pale color. My tastes trended toward purples, kelly greens, various shades of dark pinks, dark teals. So no one was more surprised than me when all of the sudden, I found myself completely OBSESSED with pastels!

I can't get enough....pale buttery yellow, light blue, seafoam green, icy pink, soft lilac, and yes, even peach! So my spring fashion focus has been on acquiring some basic solids in those colors and accessorizing appropriately. In that way, I can mix and match and wear with different bottoms, etc. That's called the econonomical fashionista!! lol

Accessories for me comprise two specific things: necklaces and scarves. On the necklace side, I am staying w/the soft, frothy mood of pastels...frosted glass. I like drop pendants and statement necklaces. Scarves I prefer an abstract mix of colors, once again, being able to pair a scarf w/many different tops.

For necklaces: etsy, hands down. I have become an etsy FANATIC. My "favorites" page reads like a novel.

For scarves: ebay. Girls, don't bother ever trying to find a scarf anywhere else, because you've got THOUSANDS of them on ebay, and you can find most of them under ten bucks. My newest acquisition...courtesy of one of my favorite designers, Emilio Pucci:

So for the next few months, I will be walking around looking like a Dreamsicle!

Death to Crewcuts

It's no secret I love finding clothes for Claire, even if I never buy them. But this? This is really just self-imposed torture. But yet...I continue to do it. I watch my disobedient fingers type the URL for the crewcuts Web site...insolent, spoiled child of J. Crew.

My eyes were forced to be assaulted by such juicy, magnificent, ridiculous notions such as...

This

And this

And this

And this

And this

The decadent luxury of this scene can only be matched by the expected price tags. If only I didn't enjoy such extravagent luxuries in life like electricity...

My take on fall accessories

This blog is dedicated to Jodi...

I don't think of myself as someone who purposely follows "trends." If I do pick things that are currently trendy, it's most likely because they are what are shown most on the shopping sites I frequent.

So here are my picks for some fun fall accessories to be found at any price range...

SCARVES!!!! I have been a longtime fan of scarves. I see people down here (Baltimore city) on wearing them and it just adds instant style and sophistication, even with a sweater and jeans. Some of my picks...

I think per my quick research, delicate charm necklaces seem to be what's "in." Here's an example of where I go my own route. I like bigger necklaces that are unique and catch the eye. I adore bib necklaces, those hulking things that lay like a bib on your chest. Some of my newest likes:

Belts are something I sadly cannot do myself. Too much belly. But I love the look of belts, especially a big earthy belt with a feminine looking dress...

and a skinny belt over a cardigan and shirt for work or w/jeans on the weekend...

and just really great showpieces like this...

I'm not picky about hats or gloves, but I really took a liking to these ultra-feminine gloves...

There you have it. Happy accessorizing!
